The foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) that assists with recruitment of foster care providers. It does not license foster homes or provide foster care or medical foster care services.
The Pediatric Primary Care Foundation, Inc. is a Florida corporation based in Ocala, Florida. We previously served in a case management contract capacity for Children's Medical Services but now have a new mission to increase the number of foster parents caring for children with medical challenges in Florida. There is a significant need for foster parents across the state and children with special health care needs and complex medical issues are better served by parents who are supported by a specialized team. Special needs children and young adults have better outcomes when they can be safely cared for in a specialized medical home where the parents have received child-specific training and ongoing support from specialized teams. Our goal is to help recruit traditional foster parents who can also assist as a medical team, therapeutic and Agency For Person's with Disabilities providers. To assist as a medical or therapeutic provider, one must be licensed as a foster care parent. Each medical candidate must attend a 32-hour pre-service training and will receive mandated quarterly training. Medical team parents have access to support from a team that includes a registered nurse and social worker working with a medical director. Parents approved to assist the medical teams obtain a Medicaid provider number to be able to receive an additional stipend related to the Medicaid approved services provided. There is a schedule of remuneration based on the level of care needed by each child and parents approved to work with these medical teams can also contact on-call staff after hours and on weekend or holidays.
The Pediatric Primary Care Foundation, Inc. will attempt to work with organizations and medical teams throughout the state to assist with some direct mail recruitment activities.
